Announcing Princess Danielle!
On November 20, I was honored to take part in making one little girl's wish to be a princess for a day come true through the Make A Wish Fondation. There were so many great people involved - Thanks to Proof of the Pudding for creating the coronation feast and Rhodes Hall for donating their entire castle for the event.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I went on a hike in Dayton, Tennessee. It was a fun, relaxing way to take some new pictures and work off all the food from the day before!

Take it from someone who goes to alot of weddings- one of the key ingredients to a great reception is the music. Now whether you go for a band or a DJ, you have to think about where your reception is being held and what kind of reception you want.

A live band is perfect for a more formal reception that may have a mix of slow dances and upbeat classics. A DJ allows for a large range of music from hip hop to country. Both choices should allow you to dictate what they play. If you hate the "YMCA" make sure you tell them and they should avoid playing it.

Remember- always ask for exactly what you want. If your in-laws are set on having a live band but you want a DJ later for when things may get rowdy - compromise and have both. I attended a wedding earlier this year where they had both and it was great!

If you are in the Atlanta area and need a great DJ, I highly recommend Mike Senzon with Atlanta Party DJ!

And I really like this article about What to Look For in Wedding Music.

Choosing a photographer is a HUGE step in the wedding planning process. After the food is eaten, the flowers dried and the dress preserved, the photos will be your reminder of the wedding day. Choosing a photographer is not something to jump into without careful consideration but what really makes a photographer the right one for you?

My personal opinion when meeting with photograpers is to ask yourself "do I mesh with this persons personality?" The bride, groom and family are going to be with the photographer for 8-9 hours and you want to get along with that person. Also, if the bride and groom are comfortable with the photographer, they will be more relaxed producing better pictures!

My other piece of advice is to ask for what you want. If you don't see exactly what you want in the photographers package or shot list or only have a certain budget to work with - Tell them!
More than likely, photographers will work with you to make sure you get exactly what you want.

Also, if you see pictures in magazines or on the web that you like, send them to your photographer. Somethings can not be recreated - if you are getting married in June in New York, there will not be snow falling. But sending shots gives your photographer some ideas of your personal style, are you very traditional or funky photojounalistic?
